Experiencing Angels

I have never seen angels but my husband did. He passed away five years ago. He was a Navajo Indian and I'm an anglo..belagonna in their language. I have lived on and around the Navajo reservation for years.

My husband told me of his experience as a young boy before he gave his life to the Lord and he believed they came from God.

As a small boy, he was raised by his uncle. He told me many stories of his real father who died at a small mission in Mexico. His mother only speaks Navajo but he remembers his mother telling him and his sister one day that they were in danger of marauders or banditos who came to kill those at the mission. He and his brothers and sister left running into the hills and later got back to the states. They heard gunshots behind them and later found out that his dad was killed.
When he was living with his uncle who was very abusive, he ran away from home in the middle of winter wearing nothing on his feet. He ran until he could run no longer. He remembers looking at a huge man wearing a white coat with fur who picked him up and then he remembered being at his other uncle's house.

When his uncle asked him how he got there he could only say a man brought him. His uncle looked everywhere outside to see any footprints in the snow but there were non. From that day on he could not walk because his feet had been frostbitten. He crawled on his knees and one day shepherding, he heard a voice in his native language speaking from a bush (not any different than Moses). The voice said he would walk soon and to not be afraid.

It was weeks later that his feet returned to normal with no signs of frostbite and he was able to walk. He didn't just walk but began to run. His running ability took him to a high school in Yucaipa, California where he ran in track and field and received many awards.

When we lived in Page, Arizona, he was at the lounge at Wahweap Marina with his brother Harry. He suddenly died, fell off a stool and the paramedics were called. I was home asleep on the livingroom floor when I got a call from the hospital.

When I arrived, the nurse had said he wasn’t himself. I walked over to the bed and he wasn’t awake but laid there. I put my hands on him and prayed that he would come back and than I didn’t want him to die. He suddenly opened his eyes and looked at me. He sat up and told me that he knows what happened. He got into a wheelchair and we went to the car. As he got in, he told me that when he died and fell of the bar stool, he was being ushered up into heaven. There were two angels with him. He was rising up higher and higher in the sky and he saw the Wahweap Marina below him. Then the angels told him he had to go back and that is wasn’t time yet.

We had more experiences with angels since then like the time we woke up to find a fire had been made during the night in our little Franklin stove. No one had come in and we didn’t have it burning the night before. We figured it had to be an angel. It was very cold that night and our four sons were covered with several blankets.

Another time, we were coming from the Marine base in California to take our son home. Our car, Lucy, broke down. The drive train broke and we were forced to pull over. It was around 2 am. A semi pulled up behind us and before the guy could get out another man driving a sports car came over. He was wearing a white long sleeve top, white pants and gold watch and came over to the car and asked if he could be of service. We had just joined an auto club and I needed to call a number. He pulled out a cell phone and proceeded to dial the number. When he knew we would be ok, he started back to his car. I asked if we could pay even for the phone call and his help. He said no that wasn’t necessary. He said he did it all the time. At 2 am, who rides around looking for cars and trucks to break down?

My husband Richard and I experienced many miracles through our 27 years of marriage.

  1. A wonderful story. I have a website devoted to angels, and I send a new story out to my mailing list every other week. Perhaps I can use this someday? You can check it out at www.joanwanderson.com. You may have read my books, especially Where Angels Walk or the latest, Angels and Wonders.
