Taking A Look At 2012

Taking a Look at 2012   Ever since our family moved from Michigan in 1963, this nation has been splintered in location, within the family unit, with men’s philosophies, politics and from God’s commands. Many that read the Bible and study it know that Scripture repeatedly admonishes Israel and believers to not turn their backs on God. God has blessed our nation in so many ways and out of it we have produced huge quantities of men and women educators, inventors, scientists, writers, musicians and every conceivable occupation. Since the computers came around, the occupations have tripled if not more. Instead of praising God for their accomplishments, society has only turned outward, to material things, to possessing things, to selfishness, to greed, to every evil imaginable. By being splintered and transient, our nation, as a whole, has forgotten God and have replaced Him with their own thinking, philosophies, religions, accomplishments, self-emulation and so much pride in themselv

What A Blessing

September 24th a historical event took place. My husband and I now have a new granddaughter. Her name is Joyce and we are extremely happy to have girl in the family. I have four sons and two grandson and here came the surprise.   I remember my son calling me to tell me they were having a girl and saying "she's an answer to your prayers" . My real concern was that the baby and mom would be healthy. The Lord is good. He has given us a special little girl that I can spoil a little. I had always wanted to share my dolls with my children, thinking I'd have a girl. Now, the dolls are gone and I'll have an excuse to buy one when she grows up.          In this picture, her brother tenderly holds her at the hospital where she was born. His eyes tell us that he will love and care for her as he has been cared for himself. His mom is a gentle and kind woman and I enjoyed watching her as she handled her son. Joyce will be a blessing to my son and daughter-in-la

Our Anniversary trip to Lyman Lake

Terry and I camped out at Lyman Lake State Park in Arizona for three nights. It rained a couple of evenings and lightning could be seen surrounding my tent. I wasn't afraid though because they struck well over 5 miles away. We took our kayaks out and pretty much went the entire distance from Rattle Snake point to the dam. I would go off by myself and enjoyed getting around and enjoying the vast scenery. Terry and I spent the entire day fishing and would take snacks with us and come back for lunch or supper. One night we ate some of the fish we caught and Terry fried them with his special seasonings. He is such a fantastic cook. http://smilebox.com/playBlog/4d7a49324f546b314e446b3d0d0a&blogview=true

Fishing in New Mexico and Arizona

Image
Here is a picture of  a Muskie. In New Mexico and not too far from Gallup, there is a lake that is full of them. Too bad, though, we can only take home a Muskie that is over 40 inches in length. My husband went there not too long ago and pulled out several over 20 inches and some over 30 but not 40. He said he was trying for trout which also are in the water but every time he threw his bait in, wham! a Muskie would hit. My husband Terry and I traveled north the Navajo Reservation and there are several lakes dried up or almost dried up because of the drought. We passed Red Lake, supposedly a 3 mile long lake, and it was dry. I mean there was not even any mud to be seen. We fished at Ganado Lake near Ganado and in one week the water level went down 6 to 10 feet in places. We thought it was unbelievable that the water went down so fast but the temperatures have been over 90 degrees. We finally had a rain shower three days ago and it was wonderful. We hadn't seen rain or any

The Not So Law Abiding Tenants

There are many people living in this mobile home community that love living here. Then there are those who consistently want to fan our fires. We had an incident, ongoing, that hasn't been resolved yet. One of the tenants bought a house here and moved here from outside of the area. She signed all the documents to rent the space but I guess she just overlooked a policy that says, "No pit bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinchers or Chow". We received many calls of mothers fearing for their children's lives. So, we talked with the tenant about her dog. She insisted that it wasn't a pit bull and that she had it since it was a puppy. My husband proceeded to look online and found several names for pit bulls, one being Stratfordshire Terrier which in England is the name for a pit bull. She keeps insisting that it isn't. My husband is so tired of people not wanting to follow the rules and policies of the park. We've tried to upgrade the playground but older teens

Happy Easter

If you click on Happy Easter, it will bring up a slide show with music for the season. This was a presentation I made on Smilebox for last Easter. Some of you may know Easter itself with all the bunny rabbits, eggs, candy...etc is a pagen celebration. I celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and this slide show shows pictures along with words from Don Francisco's song "He's Alive" to show the Lord during Passion week.

The Round Brush from Hell

Saturday, I was trying to spruce up my hairstyle. I had visited the beauty parlor, had some hair cut and then colored. Well, at home my husband had a rounded brush/comb and I tried a small portion of my hair, wetting it first and then blow drying it. But...I couldn't get my hair out of the brush.Panic set in. I tried spraying with water, putting conditioners on it. No luck. I got so frustrated that I started crying. Then I called my pastor's wife Pee Wee. She said they would be praying and would send someone over. I stood at the door with my hand holding the brush and tears running down my cheeks. I was flushed and angry that I tried to fix my hair. My friend showed up and had a can of spray used to detangle. It had an oily base. I sat on the chair while she tried loosening my hair with a pick. After about twenty minutes or so she managed to get me free from the brush from hell. I was so glad she came and never appreciated her like that day. I never experienced anything q

Christmas in New Mexico

Image
It was the first time the kids came to New Mexico for Christmas and only one son didn't make it. I have traveled to Phoenix each year but Terry wanted us to have the kids here for Christmas. There were nine of us enjoying the cool weather and just spending time with each other. I wished my husband Terry would have been able to see his family in Texas but maybe next year. Terry made brisket for our Christmas dinner and we also had sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and a vegetable and of course dessert. Eileen had never been to our home and could see where we live and work. It had snowed a little and that was just enough to take our grandson out to play. Terry rigged up a sled with a plastic lid and ropes which they pulled behind the fence where just enough snow could give the little guy a ride. Daniel had been able to come up on a bus and got a ride back to Phoenix with his brother. I am happy he's doing so much better and finally is working at a 40 hour a week job. It may not
