After Five Months of Marriage

Soon after meeting Terry, a year ago, he moved here from near San Antonio, Texas and we were married a fews days later. Now it has been five months since making our vows. He had found work with a couple of companies doing field service. He has been disappointed in the way the city does its business and found that just doing independent work from home can be costly. I was hired by the McKinley County Schools as a teacher's aide and began right along with the teacher I was assigned to, Mrs Crask-Stone. I found the work enjoyable but sometimes stressful because the kids were always disruptive and there were few days when they were ever quiet. I would take them to breakfast, lunch and escort them to the gym for their exercise. My husband and I were referred by friends from church for a position as managers of a mobile home community. We both discussed the situation of my low income I received at school and his irregular jobs with the field service. He wasn't very happy goi

Our Reception

Image
The following slide was assembled today with the pictures from the reception Terry and I had in Vanderwagen. My son Matt and wife Lesli stayed with us a week before the ceremoney. My pastor and wife were willing to do it all over again since we were actually married July 22, 2009. After a terrible accident and a month resting and recuperating, Terry was able to cook 60 pounds of meat, including chicken, port and beef brisket. It was wonderful. The church helped bring side dishes and breads and also cleaned up afterwards. What a treat to have them there serving. They all have servant's hearts. Make a Smilebox slideshow

The Wedding 7-22-09

As soon as Terry got here, we went to the County building to apply for our marriage license. It only took 10 minutes. We then went to the store to find table coverings for the reception and napkins. Pastor's daughter was making us a cake. I asked Terry what he thought about having some flowers, a bouquet for me and a boutineer for himself. We found a flower shop near the post office and the lady there agreed to make a bouquet for me in one day. Wednesday rolls around and we finally headed to the church. I lead worship and Pastor Gallegos and Bishop Hutchinson shared in the wedding service. I lasted over an hour and a half. It included a ceremonial foot washing along with his wife Lois and communion. When we do the reception at the end of August we'll just have the vows redone. I don't think we'll have the communion and Bishop won't be here either. Although the service was long, several people were shedding tears for us. I was happy and relieved that Terry had arrive

Terry's Trip

On Saturday morning, I got a call from my fiance Terry. He said he had just passed several deer around 7:30 am. Around 10 am, he called again but this time he had bad news. While driving, a buzzard crossed his path and went forward, turned around and headed for his windshield. He ducked, thinking he'd get hit with glass which caused him to veer and fishtail the 16 foot trailer he was pulling. He smashed into the guardrail and then skidded for another two hundred feet. He landed at the other end of the guardrail with the passenger side all messed up and the right front tire gone. He didn't know what to do. He was beside himself. I told him to just be still and I would call my pastor and let him know what was happening. The towing company had to make two trips to pick up his truck and his trailer. He went to a motel to rest. After several hours, the pastor with an elder and I traveled 10 hours to where he was. We found him outside VanHorn, Texas, an hour and a half from El Paso.

My Disappointing Job

June 15, 2009 For the past two weeks I’ve been working at a loan office. I find the work excessively repetitive, extremely rigid and oppressive. When I come in the morning to open up, I count the money, transfer some to a drawer, make calls throughout the day, print out several reports, have to contact another manager who lives hours from here. I come home, so tired I don’t feel like even eating. I am in the process of finding other work. This job I’m currently at is exhausting and I don’t have any time except lunch to get my bearings. I do get lunch but if I don’t perform like they want, then I may be out. They stress making friends with the customers and when I’m on the phone and someone comes in, I have to jump up and say their little saying, excusing myself with the person on the phone, then returning to finish my conversation. I think that is rude. Then there is the business. It is entirely greedy, wanting only to make money and not caring if people are taken advantage of. It is w

Laid Off but Hired in FIVE DAYS !!!

5/21/2009 Friday, 5/15, my boss asked me into her office and then told me that I was being laid off. I was supposed to get my evaulation in February but that didn't happen. I thought she was busy and getting back in the swing after getting back from Hawaii.Well, she said she had to lay off another person at the office in Albuquerque too in spite of the fact that they hired two other people too. She was going to put the person that did the classes at the front desk. So, I packed up the little that I had there and transferred my pictures to my email address. I didn't want to lose them or other personal writings. I was very disappointed. When I asked her about the evaluation she said that was not going to happen. I left. Saturday, I picked up the weekend paper and found one position in there that I thought I could do. I called the number mentioned to have an interview. On the next day, Tuesday, I went for the interview and handed the young lady my resume and three referral letter

My Trip to San Antonio, TX

5/7/09 to 5/11/09 Trip to San Antonio I left work on Wednesday and traveled to Phoenix. There I would take a flight out around noon the next day. I spent some time with my son Matt and wife Lesli that night. As soon as I entered his house, Lesli was wondering what to make for dinner. Matt was taking a nap after working hard on a 33,000 sq foot house, tapping and plastering. Lesli doesn’t cook and wanted to fix something for Matt. I suggested chicken tacos. She had all kinds of leftovers and together we had a great combination. Chicken, onions, pineapple chunks, chili powder, grill seasoning; a few cloves of garlic all cooked together then put on corn tortillas with cheese and lettuce. Wow, they tasted great. Lesli has to eat gluten free food and I told her to write the ingredients down for another time I slept at Steven’s house and got up and made it to the airport on time. Of course there was the other car that was impounded by Phoenix police cause Daniel had it parked in the wrong pl

My son Matt's Birthday Card

Image
Make a Smilebox slideshow Matt has been laid off from work since January and needs to get a job. In the meantime he and Lesli have been doing artwork together. Please pray for him that he would be employed soon. He is getting unemployment and that helps but not like a regular job. I know how it hurts a man not to be able to work. The Bible says "if you don't work, you don't eat. His wife Lesli paints and he has been making some really interesting puppets. He also designed a new website slomoke.com. He will turn 36 on Sunday. Wow. Hard to believe that he is that old. He has one son Solomon and I am hoping they'll start a family soon.

The following is a slide presentation of our church's Easter production "The Passion of Easter" and it has been produced for over 18 years with Pastor Dennis playing Jesus and over 50 people in the cast. We tell the story of his ministry of healing to his crucifixion and resurrection. We use excerpts from the movie "The Passion" and over 20 songs are sung throughout the production. My Love Terry

This was put together from recent photos of Terry. He came to visit me from Texas and asked me to marry him.. I said yes but distance makes it difficult. He wants to move here.

I Met My Soul Mate

This last week, I met Terry King. I believe he is my soul mate if there is such a thing. We have a certain admiration for each other. We compliment each other and everything we have said to each other has only been filled with peace. I have some news. My friend Terry was here since last Wednesday and will be leaving today. He hasn't left the house yet. Anyway, after spending so much time writing, emailing, messaging and phoning each other, we finally met. Wednesday he met me at church after getting lost a bit. Afterward, he made it to my house where he stayed in Daniel's room. I took two days off so I could spend it with him. He would wake up early, make coffee and breakfast for me. He loves a big breakfast, bacon, eggs, or burritos with cheese sauce. He's from Texas so there was plenty of chili to be had. As we spent a lot of time discussing our future, he came out one day and asked me to marry him. We both are on the same level spiritually. He loves the Lord and only want

ALONE ON VALENTINE'S DAY?

Image
There may be people out there that won't get a Valentine's Card. If they read this I'm sending this out to you. You are special. You are loved. God loves you. Are you hurt and crying? Are you alone? Well, know that you are not the only one that feels that no one sees you or hears you. That's not true. Do you know that you were made in the image of God, that means you have a soul, a spirit and you have a body. When Valentines day was initiated it was to speak to the soul of man and possible the body but the spirit man didn't get hurt nor feel neglected. You see, knowing that God sent his Son Jesus to die for you and you decided to give your heart to Him, He fills those empty places with a joy and peace that no human being can give you. You are not alone, ever. He is with you forever and ever. Just believe on Him and ask Him to come into your life. He's waiting for you to open the door of your heart. So what will you do for Valentines' Day. Here are some sugg

Poem - Be My Valentine

Image
Christian Glitter by www.christianglitter.com Be My Valentine The smell of roses and chocolates abound. Friends become lovers you see all around. They’re holding hands and walking about It shows in their faces, sometimes a shout. So with all the pretty colors, red and pink bring us all to remember and all to think. We one day fell in love and made plans, excited, we went together hand in hand. Valentine cards come with wishes sweet. We dance a little jig, swirling on our feet. Our hearts are encouraged, thoughts rise as we thank our dear Father up in the skies. Be my Valentine is what I wanted to say to the one who would give his heart I pray. Forever is a long time that is so very clear but there is one out there, I can call dear. Copyright, 2009, Kathryn Tyler Little

A Warning - False Publishers

I received a letter from an Oakwood Press not too long ago with special letterhead, address, etc and reading the letter the person signing it said that one of my poems (which I think they found on Poemhunter.com) was picked to be in an anthology they were printing and they needed my permission. They also offered the book for $19.95. So, thinking this was a legitimate company, I sent them the money and waited, now almost 6 months with no book. So I proceeded to look for Oakwood press online. I found that same listing. I tried calling the number..NIS. Then I went online to find another number..still nothing. I did write to the email listed. Then, yesterday, I got a call from a man, a really nice gentleman, from Toronto, Canada saying he was the one that had Oakwood Press but that name was what he put on a little booklet. He said it sounded like I had been scammed that it was a hoax. Oh dear, I thought. I will never do that again. Also if a letter ever comes in the mail, I'll check an

After Therapy

After going to the Physical Therapist today, he said that he could do something right now and proceeded to manipulate my muscles at the base of my neck and put the first rib back in place. He also showed me how to fix it when I'm at home using a belt. He said I didn't need to come back but he could always slip me in if I needed. I still want to find a good chiropractor who can work on normalizing my neck vertebrae. I know just one visit to the physical therapist won't fix the problem. It has taken years to make it straight and I should get some adjustments. I'll still have more problems later on. I told the therapist that I am a big stickler about having a good posture, not to allow my shoulders to droop and keep my back straight and sit with my feet on the floor. I know that all that repetitive work was the culprit that made my poor little rib to give up and put all the pressure on the ligaments and muscles. I am glad it isn't a major issue but will take time to g

My hospital Stay

Image
I found this picture online and that's how my neck looks in the first picture. Yesterday, I had a hard time getting dressed. My neck and shoulder were in excruciating pain. I couldn't find any medicine to help so continued on my way to work. There, I expressed my hurt to my boss with the knowledge that this was caused by overuse last week stuffing envelopes. She recommend that I go to the hospital and we would file a claim with Workmen's Comp. I left not knowing how long it would be. When I arrived, I registered and waiting for the Triage nurse to escort me to emergency. There I sat on the side of the bed, my shoulder feeling like someone was holding onto it and sqeezing it. I alternately sat down and propped myself up since I couldn't get comfortable. A doctor came in and took my blood pressure and asking what the trouble was. She said it may take a while but the doctor would be in. It took almost two hours before an xray tech came to pick me up. After looking at the

The Inauguration - January 20, 2009 -My View

Image
For the Obama Inaugural address… http://tinyurl.com/7w8vse . The world looks on and we now have our 44th President in a country that is considerably younger than the rest of the world. Yet, we are still the brave, the strong, the freedom loving people with dreams and goals, visions and hopes still waiting to be fulfilled. What should we be doing to bring change individually? Well, for one thing we need to be more involved with our church, our communities, the decisions being made on a day to day basis, log into your government in Washington to find out what bills are being passed. For those who voted for John McCain, keep praying that this experience of running will help him in his future and will open new doors for his voice to be heard. I think about Mrs Palin and the work that continues as she resides over the state of Alaska. America did have a few laughs making fun of her and her accent on Saturday Night Live and her uncanny ability to answer questions fairly well without skirti
